I picked up my first pack from Holland & Barrett. So I’ve been enjoying this beverage for a few months now and I must say that I noticed my productivity levels are highest after a cup of Yerba.
With a name like Yerba Mate (pronounced Yer-ba mat-ay) I was expecting some crazy, zingy, otherworldly flavour, so as I hesitantly sipped my first cupful I was pleasantly surprised.
Taste and Aroma of Yerba Mate
The smell transports me to a grassy knoll in a wooded area, with a small campfire smoldering nearby. I definitely agree with those who have described it as having a smoky green tea flavour, and a smell of wood chips is definitely evident. The colour of the brew is a deep bronze, more akin to a black tea than a green tea.
Best enjoyed early to mid-morning to give you the motivational kick start you need at work or to get stuff done around the house.

Preparation: Boil water but leave to cool slightly before using otherwise you may experience a bitter tasting tea. Place one teabag into a mug and pour over water. Now leave to brew for 3-5 minutes. Remove bag and enjoy when at the appropriate temperature for you.
